The Most Important Word in Blogging (And in Life)

Last weekend I turned 21 years old, and since then something's changed.
My entire 20th year, I felt an incurable angst at being nested between the clueless teenage years and the duty-laden world of years 21 and beyond. I approached with awkwardness such fundamental issues as "Am I too old to wear ripped jeans?" and "Should I file my own taxes this year?" I got fired for the first time at 20, and I didn't take it very well. I moved out of my parents' house, moved to a new city, started school at a new university and started The LC Studio. I bade a bittersweet farewell to 20 for the memories I made with it.

Maybe that's why I've been absent from blogging for three weeks. And why I've acquired a new-found love of jazz music, bedtime yoga and business casual Pinterest fashion. I'm not ashamed to admit I've shifted perspectives in the months leading up to my big day and in the few weeks since.

I appreciate my parents' visits so much since moving out just a few months ago.

My quarter-life enlightenment stems from a truce I made with a word I once approached with caution, a word promoted by a Mr. Charles Darwin, a word inescapable in any of the dimensions our universe may sustain:

Adapt.

I stand by the notion that mastering the ebb and flow of life requires constant practice, and the aforementioned milestones I encountered at 20 served as master level tests of my flexibility.

The world of blogging mirrors this philosophy. After only five months of life, The LC Studio has undergone multiple crises of its own, crises I refuse to perceive as anything other than signs of learning, understanding and growth. I've tested the waters through different social media platforms, rebranded my blog and Etsy and experimented with plenty of ideas I discarded after not observing measurable benefit in a short amount of time.

I'm still learning. I'm a new blogger and intro-level adult, and I expect to challenge myself to learn and adapt well beyond the day that I claim expertise in these areas.

Challenge yourself and your blog to overcome that next hurdle. Do you want to reach a new target market? Develop your Facebook presence? Sharpen your writing skills? There's no better time than now. To try is to adapt, and to adapt is to live.

Keep an eye out for some beautiful new content in the coming weeks here and on Pinterest, Instagram and Etsy!
